Tracking TikTok, Facebook and Taboola with GTM
Implementation steps for tracking TikTok, Facebook and Taboola with Google Tag Manager.
1. Taboola
You can add a Taboola pixel as its own tag inside Google Tag Manager and let GTM fire it alongside your other pixels.
Implementation Steps:
-
Add the official Taboola Pixel template (or a Custom HTML tag with the Taboola pixel code) as a new tag in GTM.
-
Use the same triggers you use for your other “pixel” tags (e.g. All Pages, specific events) so they all fire together on the same hits.
2. Facebook
You can implement the Facebook (Meta) Pixel in Google Tag Manager (GTM) by adding it as its own separate tag, not “injected into” another pixel.
Implementation Steps:
-
Create a new tag in GTM using the official Facebook Pixel community template (search for it in the Community Template Gallery) or a Custom HTML tag with your Facebook Pixel base code.
-
Enter your Pixel ID (found in Facebook Events Manager) and set triggers like “All Pages” or specific events to fire alongside your other pixels.
-
Use a Constant variable for the Pixel ID to reuse across event tags (PageView, Purchase, etc.)
3. TikTok
You can implement the TikTok Pixel in Google Tag Manager (GTM) by adding it as its own separate tag that fires in parallel with your other pixels.
Implementation Steps:
-
Get your TikTok Pixel base code from TikTok Events Manager (create a new pixel if needed, enable Automatic Advanced Matching).
-
In GTM, create a new Custom HTML tag (or use the TikTok template if available in the Community Gallery), paste the base code, and set triggers like “All Pages.”
-
For events (e.g., ViewContent, Purchase), add separate Custom HTML tags with ttq.track() calls, using the same triggers as your other pixels.
